‘You killed a million people in Iraq’ George Galloway tells Jacqui Smith

George has his faults but lacking the ability to demolish people in debate is certainly not one of them. Jacqui Smith justifies intervention on the basis of preventing murders and massacres and George’s comeback is swift. He thendelivers his solution calmly in answer to Andrew Neil, though some will object to including the requirement to strengthen the Syrian government as well as that of Iraq.

No, it was muslims that killed 1m other muslims in Iraq, George, and you encouraged the bloodbath. Of course the West should noit have intervened in the first place, but muslims have been killing fellow muslims for years, and we should leave them to it, until they tire of it.

    1. Chris says:

So Coalition forces killed no one in Iraq?

Moreover, do you not think that the countries that invaded Iraq, overthrew the government and destroyed the state apparatus bear some responsibility for the bloodbath that followed?

George Galloway was against all that. Obviously he said Iraqis had a right to fight against the occupying forces. That’s hardly controversial. But he was a partisan of peace, whereas you, I assume, were a partisan of war.

If people had listened to him, hundreds of thousands of people now dead would still be alive.

    Correct.

Half expecing George to break out into ‘LBJ LBJ …. how many kids did you kill today…’
Its Vietnam all over again. Imposing western style morality and democracy on a different culture. It won’t work. N and S Vietnam eventually re-united under a Commie Regime and we don’t hear much about ‘Nam much these days.

      “Half expecing George to …”

George is not one for aimlessly chanting slogans.

And btw, another item on the charge sheet should be New Labour’s disgraceful betrayal of UK armed forces.

It is time for the senior members of the New Labour administration be held to account.

The most crucial exchanges between Bush and Blair are to be withheld from publication by Chilcot.

As Sir John Major has suggested, Blair should request the publication of all correspondence with Bush.

Surely Blair owes this much to those whose lives have been shattered?

I’m afraid Blair bank balance is all I needed to see after he ran to America without finishing the wars he started.

The US and Britain sold Saddam Hussein the technology and materials Iraq needed to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction.

Reports by the US Senate’s committee on banking, housing and urban affairs — which oversees American exports policy — reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Snr, sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia. Other bacteria sold included brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene.

Classified US Defence Department documents also seen by the Sunday Herald show that Britain sold Iraq the drug pralidoxine, an antidote to nerve gas, in March 1992, after the end of the Gulf war. Pralidoxine can be reverse engineered to create nerve gas.

The Senate committee’s rep orts on ‘US Chemical and Biological Warfare-Related Dual-Use Exports to Iraq’, undertaken in 1992 in the wake of the Gulf war, give the date and destination of all US exports. The reports show, for example, that on May 2, 1986, two batches of bacillus anthracis — the micro-organism that causes anthrax — were shipped to the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, along with two batches of the bacterium clostridium botulinum, the agent that causes deadly botulism poisoning.

One batch each of salmonella and E coli were shipped to the Iraqi State Company for Drug Industries on August 31, 1987. Other shipments went from the US to the Iraq Atomic Energy Commission on July 11, 1988; the Department of Biology at the University of Basrah in November 1989; the Department of Microbiology at Baghdad University in June 1985; the Ministry of Health in April 1985 and Officers’ City, a military complex in Baghdad, in March and April 1986.

What one cannot forget of course was Saddam was an American puppet leader, he was also a great buyer of British weapons and as we all remember Peter Hain telling us we should not forget that the UK has 10,000 people working in the amrs trade and they need to have secure jobs, so we need these people sadly Saddam with held the Oil.

Never mind Assad will be careful not to cause to much waves when he becomes a puppet ….

Blair the peacemaker, Blair the millionaire, Blair the bloke who is now running labour through his third Reich or as we know it Progress.
