It passed without attention — the election for the general secretary of Britain’s third largest union. It isn’t often that General Secretaries are unopposed when they come up for re-election in our largest unions. Dave Prentice wasn’t at Unison earlier this year; nor was Derek Simpson at Unite, even though his retirement was imminent. But at the GMB, nominations have closed, and Paul Kenny was today declared re-elected, unopposed, for a further five years. Well done, Paul. You must have done something right.
