Nominations papers are going out this week for the election of the General Secretary of Britain’s largest union, Unite, just as the union’s first policy conference since the amalgamation of the TGWU and Amicus meets in Manchester. The declared candidates, together with links to their websites, are: Les Bayliss backed by the Workers Uniting Group, Gail Cartmail, Simon Dubbins, Jerry Hicks, Len McCluskey backed by the United Left and Paul Reuter.
