Dave Prentis re-elected as UNISON General Secretary

Dave Prentis has been re-elected for a third term as General Secretary of the UK’s largest public sector union. Voting in the ballot, released today was as follows:

Dave Prentis 145,351 (67.2%)

Roger Bannister 42,651 (19.7%)

Paul Holmes 28,114 (13%)

Dave Prentis’s share of the vote was down 8% on the vote he got at the last election, with turnout also slightly down at 14.6% of almost 1.5million people eligible to vote. Roger Bannister, a member of the Socialist Party, saw his vote increase by 3% since his last attempt. Paul Holmes, who was standing for the first time, is a Labour Party member and was backed by UNISON United Left.
